We are pleased to highlight the research paper “Tackling a disease on a global scale, the Global Parkinson’s Genetics Program, GP2: A new generation of opportunities.”

This important work explores how the Global Parkinson’s Genetics Program (GP2) is advancing Parkinson’s disease genetics research through global collaboration, diverse participant recruitment, genomic data generation, harmonization, and data sharing. The program brings together 275 research groups worldwide and has data and samples from approximately 265,000 subjects committed to the program as of May 2025.

The study highlights the importance of diversity, equity, transparent data sharing, researcher training, and international collaboration in building the next generation of Parkinson’s disease genetics research.
