Pancreatic Cancer
Pancreatic cancer is a malignant disease that originates in the tissues of the pancreas, an organ responsible for producing digestive enzymes and regulating blood sugar through hormone secretion. It is one of the most aggressive and deadly forms of cancer due to its typically late diagnosis, rapid progression, and resistance to conventional therapies. The most common type, pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), accounts for over 90% of cases. Risk factors include smoking, chronic pancreatitis, diabetes, obesity, genetic predisposition, and advanced age. Symptoms such as abdominal pain, jaundice, unexplained weight loss, and fatigue often appear only in advanced stages. Current treatment strategies include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy, with ongoing research focused on early detection, molecular biomarkers, and precision medicine to improve patient outcomes.
