Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) refers to a group of chronic disorders that cause inflammation of the digestive tract. The two main types are Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Symptoms often include abdominal pain, diarrhea (sometimes with blood), weight loss, fatigue, and reduced appetite. IBD is an autoimmune-related condition in which the immune system mistakenly attacks the GI tract. The disease typically goes through periods of flare-ups and remission. While there is no cure, treatment options—such as medications, lifestyle changes, and sometimes surgery—can help manage inflammation and improve quality of life.
